What is PowerValve?
The PowerValve is a larger diameter replacement valve for the Ford E4OD and 4R100 transmissions offered in two different sizes 7/16 for medium shift action and ½ for hard shift action. The PowerValve is especially recommended on high horsepower diesel applications where the factory valve is not able to handle the added power and thus making the transmission "slip", the PowerValve is ideal for this application.

What does PowerValve do?
The Power valve works to eliminate the common erratic shift problem of the 4R100 transmission by increasing the valve body pressure. This problem is even more prevalent in high output engines and causes a decrease in transmission shift accuracy and speed. The transmission valve's piston diameter is increased from 3/8 (factory) to either 7/16 (medium) or 1/2 (firm) depending upon application. The grooves found on the original piston design have shown to reduce pressure as well, so they have been eliminated on our stainless steel piece. By installing the transmission valve, the increase in piston diameter will raise the line pressure which in turn will allow the clutch pack to apply faster thus creating a more positive shift.

Construction
The CNC milled T-6061 aluminum sleeve is available in two different piston diameters, 7/16 for medium shift action, 1/2 for firm shift action. The 1/2 diameter is recommended for high output applications. The piston is machined out of stainless steel for maximum durability.

Benefits

Since the positive shift action makes the transmission shift gears quicker, there will be less labor between gear selections thus keeping the transmission oil temperature low especially in heavy towing and high output applications.
